Story
Adele and her father, Marc, are about to embark on the journey of a lifetime—sailing across the world's oceans as part of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2025-26 edition.
Adele will take on the full circumnavigation, fulfilling a lifelong dream that began in childhood. In one of the race’s most legendary legs—the almighty crossing of the North Pacific Ocean—her father Marc will join her and their team, Team Dylan. It’s a stretch so remote, the nearest other humans will be aboard the International Space Station.
This voyage is not just about the miles sailed, but the legacy of love, courage, and inspiration behind it.
After the passing of a dear friend, Adele realised it was time. Time to face the things that scared her. Time to live boldly, and to honour the dreams that she and her friend once shared. The Clipper Race—a challenge she’d carried in her heart for years—was now more than a goal. It was a calling.
Thanks to Marc, Adele has always felt the ocean in her soul. He taught her to sail, fish, and even build her first boat—a bright yellow Optimist dinghy named Tarka—all before her sixth birthday. He has been her rock and her compass.
So, in return, Adele invited Marc to join her for the crossing of his dreams. Ever since reading about Kenichi Horie’s daring solo voyage from Japan to San Francisco in 1964, Marc has dreamt of braving the mighty Pacific. And now, more than 50 years later, he will.
Together, they will sail—not just to chase personal dreams—but to help others realise theirs.
Adele and Marc are proud to be fundraising for UNICEF UK, the Clipper Race’s long-standing charity partner. Since 2015, Clipper and UNICEF have raised £1.6 million to support children across the globe. This year, The Clipper Race is aiming raise £420,000 towards UNICEF's work for children.
UNICEF works in over 190 countries, delivering life-saving aid and building brighter futures, by providing:
• Vaccines, clean water, and therapeutic food
• Protection from violence and exploitation
• Access to education and a sustainable world to grow up in
The Clipper Race's £420,000 target could:
• Vaccinate over 2 million children against deadly and devastating
diseases, with life-long protection
• Purchase 85 large water tanks to store and disinfect water for
510,000 people
• Provide a full course of treatment for over 9,900 children with
severe acute malnutrition.
Every donation makes a real difference:
• £165 could buy a wheelchair for a child with limited mobility
• £275 could provide a midwifery kit to support the safe delivery of 50 babies
By supporting their journey, you’re not just backing a father and daughter on an oceanic odyssey. You’re helping make dreams come true—for children, for families, and for the future.
