Story
This one is personal.
A few years ago, our founder and director was diagnosed breast cancer and began a journey she never expected. Along the way, she met some truly amazing women who became friends, supporters and sources of strength. And she was cared for by incredible nurses and doctors whose kindness and expertise carried her through some very difficult days.
Around 55,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year. Behind every statistic is a person, a family and a story.
So this October, the DIVERSITY room is turning the microphone into a fundraising tool, by bringing people together for a night of spoken word, music, laughter and community, raising money for Breast Cancer Now, helping fund research, support people affected by breast cancer and enable nurses and healthcare professionals to continue their amazing work.
We'll be raising money through this page (please donate anything you can) AND by selling tickets to the Open Mic Night.
Please check instagram for details on the Open Mic Night @the_diversity_room
Come along, bring your friends, have a laugh and help us raise as much as we can.
Cancer may be part of the story, but it doesn’t get to write the ending.
