“SOMM Summer Long Dance Giveaway”

Americares is a health-focused relief and development organization that responds to people affected by poverty or disaster with life-changing health programs, medicine and medical supplies.

Story

I’m fundraising for Americares, an organization I deeply admire for how it delivers healthcare when and where people need it most—both in the U.S. and around the world.

Hi, thanks you for checking out my fundraiser page to find out about a cause I really care about!

I recently graduated as a professional Movement Medicine teacher and I will dance in the Summer Long Dance in July, where I will have my graduation ceremony. The event is also a fundraiser and I'm raising money for Americares because recent events in the US and around the world have really endangered access to healthcare and disaster relief. This is an organization that directly addresses this crisis. Also, my graduation is a big milestone in my life and your donation can help me celebrate. :)

ABOUT AMERICARES:

In the United States, Americares helps people who are insured and uninsured but still can’t afford care. Through free medicines, medical supplies, mobile clinics, and disaster response, they support families facing high out‑of‑pocket costs, chronic illness, or sudden emergencies—filling real gaps in the fragmented US healthcare system.

Globally, Americares partners with local health providers to strengthen clinics, supply essential medicines, and respond rapidly in crises. At a time when government aid and large public programs can be delayed, reduced, or overstretched, organizations like Americares provide flexible, fast support that keeps frontline healthcare running and communities from falling through the cracks.

What inspires me most is Americares’ focus on dignity, partnership, and lasting impact—not just delivering aid but reinforcing local health systems so care continues long after the emergency has passed. If you’re able to give, your support truly helps people access healthcare when it matters most! Any amount helps!

ABOUT THE SUMMER LONG DANCE:

"The Summer Long Dance ceremony is a way to join in deep community to dance, sing, heal and pray together for all our relations. The ceremony is grounded in Movement Medicine and the teachings represented in the Movement Medicine mandala. It’s an opportunity to actively remember that our own personal wellbeing is connected to the wellbeing of the biosphere and all of life, and to dedicate our dance to all our relations, past, present and future.

This is a give-away ceremony and therefore, participants are required to raise a minimum of £400 for any charity project or projects they wish to dance for. There is no tuition fee and any monies left over at the end of the event will go entirely towards supporting charitable projects.

The Summer Long Dance has so far raised more than £700,000 for a whole host of magnificent projects. The central project is to support Fundacion Pachamama, the Ecuadorian wing of the Pachamama Alliance, which is a prime supporter of the Sacred Headwaters Alliance."
