Story

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.

As many of you will know one of my longest and best friends, Kerrie, was born with a congenital heart condition. I will never forget the days we waited for and walked through two heart valve replacements she had in her twenties and thirties, and I watched her body heal from these huge surgeries. However, nothing could have prepared us for Kerries biggest battle in 2021 when she developed sepsis which went straight for her weak spot, the heart.

Kerrie fought for her life and I believe is a walking miracle today because of Gods mercy. The surgeons and whole team who rebuilt Kerries heart are some of the most highly skilled and incredible people, but what stands out the most is that Kerrie simply had the strength to do what was needed to get better as well. She learnt to walk again, and even speak again after 20 days in a medically induced coma. She now has her life back but also carrys a burden from the trauma and a drop foot from part of the life saving surgery. She also creates the most beautiful art and set up Gold Hearted Club (@goldheartedclub) to raise awareness through pieces she has designed and made.

So, here I am, about to do a dragon boat race to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, and Kerrie is my why! We will have fun and celebrate life while also raising money for a great cause.

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
