I must be crazy but I've decided to take part in an UWCB event for this amazing charity, it's very close to my heart as it helped me through one of the toughest times of my life, my little boy Chester was born with Strep B and had sepsis at birth. Him being tested and given treatment so quickly is what saved his life but I still to this day look at him and dread to think what could have been. Not many people know about group B strep, I didnt and GBSS helps to make more people aware and support those families going through what we did.

I have previously ran the great north run for this charity, but want to keep doing all I can to raise the funds to keep them supporting and helping other families and babies and what better way than getting my head knocked off 🤣

Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months.

On average in the UK, at least

-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection

-one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and

-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.

Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.
