Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

In 2024 our lives changed. Bob my wonderful partner of 26 years, following a medical episode at the wheel of our van, was diagnosed with not one but multiple benign brain tumours. They are in the form of benign tumours called Meningiomas and a Vestibular Shwannomma. He had a craniotomy in August of 2024 to remove the largest of the tumours - Boris and unfortunately a post op seizure in November 2024. In January and May we received the news we are on watch and wait as thankfully the remaining tumours are not growing currently. We also know that they are the result of a genetic condition called NF2 Shwannamatosis. We are now on a life long journey. Being a human biologist and PE specialist, my interest at heart is research and activity so what better to do for my 50th than give back and complete the TCS London Marathon for Brain Tumour Research! I also have some other events planned too.

In January we found out that one of Bobs other tumours has grown and he is looking at further treatment in the form of Gamma Knife Radiotherapy.

Thank you for your donation and support it means alot to Bob, myself and also the Dane Dog!

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.

Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
