Walking the South Downs Way from Eastbourne to Winchester

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Eight years ago, a bright and very talented ex Hurst College pupil, Cameron Forster, died in a tragic air accident at just 21 years old. His Mother, Amanda Jayne is a Hurst College teacher and used his estate to build an orphanage in Cameron's memory. Her determination and drive to see something positive happen out of such a tragedy is inspirational. There are currently 12 orphans needing our help to improve their lives through education and teaching life skills.

Every year, Hurst pupils have the opportunity to go out to Zambia and volunteer at the Orphanage and last year, Mel travelled out on an adult's trip in April 2023 to help build the Boma (large traditional mud hut) and spend time with the orphans.

We are sponsoring Sarah, one of the first children to arrive at the Orphanage and I am volunteering on a trip next Easter, as Mel did.

Mel and I would dearly like to help Amanda further and have decided to walk the South Downs Way, in sections over the next couple of months, and raise awareness for this little known charity, where 100% or ALL money raised goes directly to the Orphanage. Any donation, however small will be hugely appreciated. If you are interested in sponsoring an orphan or getting more involved then please visit their website.
