Story
This February, I'm walking one kilometre a day and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone.
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference.
Just £10 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline.
As a social worker, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals and families during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Over the years, my work has opened my eyes and deepened my understanding of dementia in ways I never imagined.
Looking back at home (Africa), there were people in our community who we now realise were living with dementia but at the time, we didn’t recognise the signs. They struggled quietly, and so did their families, often without the right information, support, or guidance. That reality stays with me.
Through my current role, I’ve seen first-hand how early awareness, understanding, and the right support can completely change a family’s journey with dementia. No one should have to face this condition alone or in the dark. Families deserve knowledge, compassion, and access to the right help at the right time.
That is why I am committing to walk 5 kilometres every day to raise funds for Dementia UK. This challenge is my way of giving back and helping to ensure that more families receive the support they need from specialist nurses, resources, and guidance that can make a real difference.
Every step I take is for those living with dementia, for the families who love them, and for a future where no one has to suffer without support.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for cheering me on, and for any donation you are able to give. Together, we can make a difference. 💙
God bless 🙏
