#TeamYMCA are running this year's London Marathon in support of young people - helping them to belong, contribute and thrive in their communities.

Story

I have decided to take on the enormous challenge of running the London Marathon! This is totally out of my comfort zone and at the beginning of the year I had never ran further than 5K. Running a marathon has always been a dream of mine and I am so excited to be running one of the worlds most iconic marathons. I have been offered this fantastic opportunity by the YMCA and I hope to do them proud and raise as much money as possible for this great cause. They do incredible work locally in my community and throughout the country. I really am relying on everyone’s support to get me through this challenge and any donations would be so gratefully received (also any running advice would be great as I’m clueless!).

I have set up an Instagram account to share how my training is going so please give me a follow it’s sally_runs_london

I will also post regular updates on here.

Thank you all so much and here’s a bit more information about the YMCA and the amazing work they do.

YMCA exists to provide the essential building blocks for a full and rewarding life: a safe home; acceptance; guidance; friendship; physical and mental health; academic support; employment skills; and access to real opportunities.

Many young people have never known these things; other people have lost one or more as they grew up, but we all need them. All of us.

YMCA provides these critical foundations for a fresh, strong start for young people and a better quality of life in the community.

YMCAs vision in England and Wales is to transform communities so that all young people can belong, contribute and thrive.
