Story

Ramsgate Salvation Army – Supporting Ukrainians in Thanet and Beyond

Since war broke out in Ukraine, families have arrived in Thanet seeking safety – and we've welcomed them with open arms.

Since 2022, Ramsgate Salvation Army has stood alongside the Ukrainian community. What began as emergency help has grown into a vibrant network of support, connection, and hope.

We now run a wide range of activities to help Ukrainians rebuild their lives and adapt to a new life in the UK:

- Support for children, young people, and parents

- English Conversation Club and employment advice

- Help with furniture, moving, and settling into local life

- A welcoming advice hub, with close links to Citizens Advice

- Cultural events and trips to reduce isolation and strengthen community

- Volunteer opportunities that build confidence and purpose

- A Ukrainian school where children learn to read, write, and speak their native language – plus a fun drama club to build confidence and express themselves

And more!
