Story
On Sunday the 10th of March, my Dad and I will be running the Chester 10K in memory of my partner Amy’s Grandad. Norman sadly passed away last September at the Walton Centre in Liverpool but before that, I was lucky enough to spend lots of time with him and he always treated me like another Grandchild. When he was poorly in hospital, I promised that I would run the Chester 10k for him as we often joked about how unfit I was, and I knew that it would lift his spirts.
Unfortunately, Norman passed away before he got to see me do the run. However, I know he’d find me going out in the freezing cold after work to practice my running hilarious, but he would also be my biggest cheerleader, which is why I’m doing this run in his memory.
The Walton Centre treats more than 180,000 patients each year and is the only specialist NHS Hospital Trust in the UK providing pioneering treatments for conditions affecting the brain, spine, nervous system, and the management of pain conditions. The hospital serves a catchment area of 3.5 million people across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, the Isle of Man, North Wales and beyond. The care and attention that they offered Norman and our family during his time with them was second to none, so I would love to raise some money to help them continue to do the amazing work that they do and help others like Norman.
Any donation you can make would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!
