Story

We are running a half marathon to heat a school in Ukraine.

Winter is bitterly cold in Ukraine and Russia has been attacking power stations relentlessly so ordinary families will freeze when the weather turns. Putin hopes that if people are cold enough for long enough, they will lose the will to fight. Caught in this brutal calculus are the children of Ukraine.

The school we aim to heat has 600 pupils and is located in Kryvyi Rih, a city in central Ukraine. With your help the children will have somewhere warm to learn and play together this winter.

The project is being run by Ukraine Relief, a charity based in Bournemouth that has delivered nearly 5,000 tonnes of aid to Ukraine since the war began. Sam visited the Ukraine Relief headquarters and was impressed by the organisation's efficiency and its team of hard-working volunteers.
