Story
Hello lovely people! We have made the (potentially foolish) decision to spend our 25th Birthday’s running the Brighton half marathon!
We have chosen to use this opportunity to raise funds for a charity supporting mental health as it is a cause that is important to us. The charity we have chosen to fundraiser for is Strong Minds, an organisation dedicated to providing therapy and support to individuals struggling with depression in Africa.
Depression is a silent epidemic in Africa and stands as one of the leading causes of disability. Unfortunately, due to a lack of investment in mental health services, approximately 85% of individuals in low income countries have no access to treatment. StrongMinds provides free, group talk therapy to low-income women and adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa. It scales its reach through peer-to-peer therapy, public education, and partnerships — treating tens of thousands of individuals each year.
Strong Minds has received recognition as a cost-effective charity from both Founders Pledge and Happier Lives Institute. It is also recommended by Giving What We Can, highlighting its impactful and efficient contributions to mental health support.
Anyone who has been impacted by depression either personally or through a loved one will understand how debilitating it can be. So as we gear up for this challenge, please consider contributing to our fundraising effort. Every donation, no matter the size, will create a meaningful difference. Thank you for your support!
