Story
This December, I’m taking on a special challenge to support Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) and our mission to ensure nobody spends Christmas alone.
RVS’s Christmas wish is for nobody to spend Christmas alone. Without RVS, many people could spend the entire festive season without someone to talk to. This December, RVS is expanding their Festive Spread, hosting celebrations across Britain for people to come together and share a hot meal with others. Hundreds of our services are opening their doors for more people to join this winter.
For so many of the people we support, Christmas is ‘just another day.’ By supporting my challenge, you could give them something to look forward to this festive season and beyond. This year, 1,600 people will be attending our festive spread events across the UK. To honor each attendee, I’m planning to swim a length of my local pool for each of them. That’s 1,600 laps, and at 25 meters per lap, it totals 40 kilometers throughout December!
I’m diving into this challenge to make a splash and bring some festive cheer to those who need it most. 🐟👨🎄
Your support can make a real difference. By donating, you can help RVS bring joy and companionship to those who need it most this Christmas. Let’s pool together and make waves of kindness this holiday season! 🤝💖
• £5 could cover the cost of a hot Christmas lunch for an isolated older or vulnerable person at one of our volunteer-run lunch and social clubs.
• £7.50 could cover the cost of a telephone welfare call from a trained volunteer to someone who is isolated, alone, and struggling with loneliness this Winter.
• £10 could help us to send a volunteer to visit someone at home this Christmas time – someone who has become isolated and alone.
• £25 could help deliver a trolley visit to a hospital ward where friendly volunteers take the time to stop and chat with patients who are spending Christmas alone.
• £50 could help us deliver an emergency food package to someone at home. This could provide a lifeline to someone unable to leave their house or is struggling alone at home this Christmas.
Thank you for your generosity and support! 🎁✨
