Story
I’ve always wanted to achieve something that would really challenge and totally push me out of my comfort zone, as well as test me both mentally and physically. So, when the opportunity came by to climb Mt Kilimanjaro with other students from the University of Bath while raising funds and promoting awareness for The Meningitis Research Foundation, I knew I didn’t want to pass up on this adventure and the opportunity to support a really worthy cause.
For the next 8 months I will be doing a series of tough challenges to raise money to reach my MRF target starting off with running 5km every day in December. Rain/shine, hangover/hockey match, Christmas party/Christmas dinner… I will still have to run my 5k, so your support, however small, will be very welcomed!
The final part to our fund raising will be at the end of August 2025, when we will attempt to reach the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895m) where I know I will be pushed to the very limits to reach ‘The Roof of Africa’. Hiking anywhere between 5-10 hours a day and more on the final day, sleeping in tents in freezing temperatures, very basic bathroom facilities, experiencing icy winds and thin air, along with the very real threat of getting altitude sickness, it really will be quite an adventure and totally worth it for a great cause.
Your support and donations, whatever the size will be very gratefully received and hugely appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support.
Sam
