Story

Support My 100km Ultra Trail Run for Men’s Mental Health in Memory of My Dad

On May 16th, I will take on one of the biggest challenges of my life: a 100km trail ultra-marathon through the mountains of snowdonia, in the UTS 100km. This race is more than just a test of endurance—it’s a tribute to my dad, who tragically passed away on February 14th last year to suicide.

This journey is deeply personal. Losing my dad to mental illness was devastating, and it’s a loss that has left an indelible mark on me and my family. I’m running to honor his memory, raise awareness for men’s mental health, and support others who may be facing the same struggles he did.

I’ve decided to dedicate this race to Mind, a charity that provides vital support to those living with mental health challenges and their loved ones. Their work is critical in breaking down the stigma around mental health, offering hope to those in need, and ensuring that no one has to face their struggles alone.

This race will push me to my limits, both physically and mentally. I’m doing this for a cause that means so much to me. Starting this fundraiser will not only fuel my motivation but will also allow me to turn my grief into something that helps others.

Your donations will:

• Support Mind’s crucial work in providing mental health resources and counseling.

• Raise awareness for men’s mental health, encouraging open conversations and reducing stigma.

• Offer support to those left behind by suicide—families, friends, and loved ones—who often struggle in silence.

Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to me. If you’re unable to donate, I’d still be so grateful if you could share this page to help spread the word.

Thank you for helping me turn this personal challenge into a meaningful mission. Together, we can make a difference.

In memory of my dad and for everyone who might need a little light in their darkest days, thank you.

With gratitude,

Sam Catherall
