London to Brighton Cycle September · 15 September 2024 ·

The Trust has been set up to create a legacy in the memory Alexandra, who, on the 2nd April 2013 was diagnosed with Mastitis Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare, rapidly spreading soft tissue cancer. She passed away on the 16th September 2014 aged just 17. The ethos of our Trust is to support children and young people aged 1 to 24 who have been diagnosed with Cancer. The support given to Alexandra during her illness by the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey was without fault. We the Trust and her many friends are committed to raising as much money as possible to help other children in similar circumstances. Alexandra was able to benefit from a number of small charities. A personal shopper day at Top Shop. She was so excited when she came home explaining her day. She was able to have a real hair wig to feel 'normal' for her school prom and was so proud of the MAC laptop she was given. Alexandra requested it because she had every intention, when she recovered, of studying photography as an A level. These donations made her happy and gave her something positive to focus on, a distraction which helped her cope mentally with the enduring treatment. This is the aim of our Trust, to raise ‘Smile Money’. We want to give something to young people being treated for cancer . Maybe it will be another Mac Laptop or a weekend away for the family. We want to gift a memory.

Story

It was a few months ago, when Mark turned to me and said I turn 40 this year and I want to do the London to Brighton bike ride.

It will be a laugh he said, I thought yeah ok let's give it a go and we can raise money for a great cause while we are at it.

So Mark, Jake and I decided to take on the 60 mile bike ride as a personal challenge in our latter years and support the fantastic Sales Trust while we are at it.

The London to Brighton Bike Ride

This is a grueling 60 mile bike ride making our way from Clapham Junction and through the rolling hills of Surrey with the daunting Ditchling Beacon to finish off, with an average gradient of 10% topping out at 16%. So this should be fun.
