South Coast Challenge 2024 · 7 September 2024 ·

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

WE DID IT!!!!!

The couple of months worth of rain in the 24 hours beforehand did not help with the conditions so it was very muddy and slippy but we made it! Thank you for all the generous donations as this kept us going particularly through the night!

THE BACK STORY

So I turned 50 at the beginning of the year as did my best mate, Harriet, not long after me. Whilst we have celebrated in style, we (or should I say Harriet) decided we needed a challenge worthy of our 50 years and I dutifully signed up to the 100km South Coast challenge.

I chose Pancreatic Cancer UK because at the time of committing my colleague was battling pancreatic cancer with upmost courage and bravery. Sadly she recently lost her battle and this has spurred me on further as she was truly inspirational and taken far too young.

One takeaway fact which shocked me:

More than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case.

Please help me raise as many funds as possible; dig deep, sacrifice your daily coffee; buy one less piece of clothing…....whatever you can spare! It will help change the above fact!
