Story
I am privileged in so many ways, to have this challenging opportunity to cycle from my home in the Spen Valley to London!
I am doing this on behalf of the Jo Cox Foundation. Jo was my MP, locally educated and a rising political star! I vividly remember the day that her life was cut short and Jo was tragically taken from us. We can’t bring Jo back but we can continue her impactful work!
I benefit enormously from this challenge. I am meeting other riders, of a wide range of cycling abilities and backgrounds, with so many interesting stories to tell. I get cycling fit and more opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. As a thank you, please help me to raise more funds for the Jo Cox Foundation to tackle loneliness and bring together our diverse communities.
Jo Cox was a passionate campaigner, activist and humanitarian; a proud Yorkshire lass and internationalist; and a devoted mum, daughter, sister, wife, friend and MP.
I'm taking part in the Jo Cox Way because - like Jo herself - I believe that we have more in common than that which divides us.
In July I'll join a group of over 100 riders as we cycle nearly 300 miles from Jo's constituency in West Yorkshire to London. Over five days, this group - from a range of different backgrounds and different cycling abilities - will really bring Jo's more in common message to life.
I'm also fundraising for The Jo Cox Foundation as part of this challenge. The charity was founded to make meaningful change on issues that Jo was passionate about. Everything that you donate will go to their work to bring the more in common message to life.
The Jo Cox Foundation is a small charity with a big impact. So please give what you can to help them to achieve even more change in Jo's memory.
