Story

In Loving Memory of Sam Gardiner

Sam was a super human. If you want to help fund research into one of things which made him special, I am sure he would love that.

A beloved son, a cherished brother, and a truly unforgettable soul.

Sam Gardiner left us far too soon, and whilst words will never fully capture the light, joy and energy he brought into our lives, we hold on to the memories that made him so special.

Sam loved animals and brought a gentle care for every creature that crossed his path, especially dogs. He was equally passionate about plants: the flower and the weed. A true petrol head, Sam could talk engines and modifications for hours, and he did, with all of his many friends. And, when the tools were down and the day was done, he was an avid connoisseur of the take-aways of Didsbury & Gatley.

He found a place where he could thrive, at Lunga in Scotland. A special community, with a wild beauty, where his open spirit breathed freely, where he could just be Sam.

Sam was adored by his family. As a son, brother and nephew, he was loyal, funny and fiercely protective. He did Race Across The World in 2019, which opened his eyes to the wonder of adventure and travel. He was willing to go wherever the trail might lead and he touched everyone he met on the road.

Sam lived a life full of surprises. He brought warmth, laughter and a smattering of chaos wherever he went, he leaves behind a huge hole in our hearts. We will miss him endlessly, but we’ll also remember him with smiles, tall tales, and a depth of love that will never fade.

Rest easy, Sam.

We hope to improve awareness of Foetal Alcohol Effects.

FASD affects more people in the UK than autism, yet is completely preventable as well as widely misunderstood and undiagnosed.

We also hope to ensure that, through increased education around the risks of alcohol consumption during pregnancy, FASD is prevented at every possible opportunity.
