Welsh 3000 for British Heart Foundation

Sam Haggerty is raising money for British Heart Foundation

The Welsh 3000 · 27 June 2025

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

This June, I’m attempting one of the UK's toughest mountain challenges: the Welsh 3000s. In just two days, I'll summit all 15 peaks in North Wales over 3000ft, covering 27 grueling miles and climbing a total elevation gain of over 10,000 feet – that's like scaling Ben Nevis three times. This isn't just a hike; it involves demanding Grade 1 Scrambles where focus and endurance are paramount. It’s a colossal physical test, but I’m driven by a cause far bigger than any mountain.

I’m pushing my limits for the British Heart Foundation because heart disease has shattered my world. It stole my beloved Grandad in an instant. It took my wife’s father far too young, a tragedy hidden by an undetected defect. And just recently, it claimed the life of a close friend’s dad. This pain is relentless. Every single day in the UK, hundreds of families face this same devastating loss.

But here’s the hope: The BHF is fighting back. Their groundbreaking research has already slashed death rates from heart and circulatory diseases. They fund the science that finds cures, improves treatments, and detects the undetectable. They save lives that would otherwise be lost.

This challenge is my tribute, my fight, and my plea. Every step up those mountains will be fueled by the memory of those we’ve lost and the determination to spare others this pain.

Please, support my journey and help the BHF win this fight:

£10 could help fund a vital hour of research.

£25 could provide life-saving information packs to families in crisis.

£50 could support the development of new treatments.

Your donation isn't just sponsoring a hike; it's investing in a future where fewer families are shattered by heart disease. Together, we can help the BHF turn the tide.

Donate today and be part of this crucial mission. Every single pound makes a difference.
