Hi, my name is Sam, and I am excited to be able to take part in the ULTRA WHITE COLLAR BOXING event on Saturday, 19th October 2024, for two reasons. Firstly, the challenge to learn the discipline and skills needed to train for an event like this while improving my stamina.

Secondly, to be able to raise essential funds to support Caraline, a registered Eating Disorder Charity dedicated to providing evidence-based treatment to those living with eating disorders and their carers. Eating Disorders have the highest mortality rate than any other psychiatric illness, with 10% of those dying. We live in a world where, sadly, it is normal for people to have some form of body dissatisfaction, fueled further by unhelpful comparisons, especially among young people and the various social media platforms. Eating disorders do not discriminate and can affect anyone irrespective of gender, age, culture and sexual identity.

My Mum is the founder of Caraline, following the death of her friend to an eating disorder. The Charity celebrated its 30th Birthday this year, and I want to be able to contribute to Caraline by raising funds to support them in the essential work they do for those affected by eating disorders. Caraline’s mission is to envisage a world where eating disorder prevention is part of our education system and early intervention eating disorder therapies are accessible to all.
