Stockport Grammar School is a co-educational, independent day school for children aged 3-18 years. We recognise the value of each pupil as an individual, and the importance of nurturing every aspect of their personality and potential – intellectual, creative, emotional, physical and spiritual.

Story

On 12th - 13th July, Sam Jennings, Andy Barcilon and Danny Walker and ~ 20 close friends will be aiming to complete the UK Three Peaks Challenge, climbing each of the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within a 24hr period. This involves walking a total distance of 23 miles with a total ascent of over 3,000m, plus nearly 500 miles of driving, battling the British weather, blisters, hunger and tiredness!

2 1/2 years ago, one of our friends and active climber and mountaineer, had an accident on a weekend holiday. Unfortunately, he suffered a badly broken back, leaving him paralysed from the waist down and in a wheelchair.

One of our Best Friends, Matt, recognising the joy, education and real world experience these adventures have given the two of them since they were children, has with him jointly seeded a new fund to offer means-tested financial support for pupils at our old school in Stockport, near Manchester, to benefit from the same experiences they had growing up.

As Stockport Alumni and old friends we were only too happy to get involved.

We would be hugely grateful for any additional donations to this fund to help us help even more children access the great outdoors, and of course to keep us going in the no doubt driving rain during the challenge!
