Story
I am raising money for the Saying Goodbye charity following the sad loss of baby Rosie earlier this year. Instead of bringing in the new year with the exciting news of having a fourth girl to add to our existing girl gang, we sadly lost Rosie at 18 weeks where she was born sleeping. It was the most traumatic journey we have ever been on and it has left us with a huge hole in our hearts.
Baby loss is something you think will never happen to you- until it does. I still can't get over how little it is spoken about and through sharing our story I am deeply saddened at how many people I know who have experienced baby loss. It wasn't until the wonderful staff at Frimley Park (in particular in the bereavement suite) provided us with a book called 'Saying Goodbye' where I discovered this wonderful charity who do so much for the hundreds and hundreds of families experiencing baby loss. Our experience has left me desperately wanting to give something back in return for the comfort and support we found through the Saying Goodbye charity.
When you lose a baby, it feels like time stands still. You feel isolated and like you are the only person that this is happening to, but sadly around 700 babies are lost each day in the UK. Mariposa International (www.sayinggoodbye.org) are at the forefront of providing services and support 24/7 for anyone affected by baby loss, at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in infancy. They rely on amazing people to take on challenges and run fundraising events and projects, to raise funds support the charity's work.
For those of you who know me, this will be a big challenge as running is not my chosen activity by a long mile (pardon the pun), but I cannot think of a more worthy cause, particularly in the middle of Baby Loss Awareness Week. I am lucky to have Megan, the most supportive friend who has committed to running and training with me to support this amazing charity.
We are running for Rosie and for all babies who were too good for this world. To all those who have reached out to me to share their journey- we are running for your baby too and all funds raised will support this amazing charity who will continue to support families who sadly encounter similar experiences. Any support big or small will be greatly appreciated (even just sharing our just giving page far and wide). Keep an eye out for future fundraising events over the next few months too! We are forever grateful for your support.
