Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ten years ago, I lost my beautiful boy, Alex. He was just approaching his first birthday when he contracted Meningitis and sadly died the following day. Bacterial Meningitis is a horrible illness that progresses very quickly, claiming the lives of 1 in 6 people who contract it with 1 in 5 suffering long-term side effects.
The Meningitis Research Foundation are working, alongside other groups, with the aim to defeat Meningitis by 2030. This includes work to distribute vaccinations to at-risk groups, disease tracking and monitoring and work to raise awareness of the symptoms.
I have decided to do my biggest challenge, ever, to raise awareness of this disease and also to try to raise as much money for MRF as possible in Alex's memory. I will be taking on Ironman Italy in September - a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and then a 42.2km run!
