Story
🌍 Walking the Sahara for The Hospice of St. Francis 🏜️💛
In November 2026, we will take on an extraordinary challenge: trekking 50 km across the Sahara Desert in Morocco to raise vital funds for the Hospice of St. Francis.
This won’t be easy. We’ll battle scorching daytime heat of up to 40°C, endure freezing desert nights, and trek across endless rolling dunes. We’ll camp under the stars, carrying everything we need, and push ourselves far beyond our comfort zones. 🌵✨
But every step, every blister, and every sunrise over the desert will be for the people the hospice cares for.
💛 Why we’re doing this
The Hospice of St. Francis provides life-changing care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Tracy, Mike's wife and Sam's mum, works at the hospice and sees every day the comfort, dignity, and hope they bring to people at the hardest times of their lives.
Their work is inspiring, and we want to do everything we can to ensure they can continue offering this incredible support.
🌟 How your sponsorship helps
Your donation goes directly towards the hospice’s vital services:
- Direct patient care – funding home visits from Community Nurses or supporting a patient’s stay in the In-Patient Unit.
- Operational support – covering essential costs like IT equipment, courier services for medicines, and nutritious meals.
- Volunteer support – recruiting, training, and supporting the volunteers who give their time to help.
- Rehabilitation – £33 can fund one hour of rehabilitation, helping patients maintain independence.
- Beautiful gardens – keeping the hospice gardens bright and welcoming for patients and families to enjoy.
