Story

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.

One mad morning our chef Adam told me about his wish to Skydive for Alzheimer’s. Having always wanted to do one I instantly offered to do it with him! So here we are!! A tandem skydive from 10,000 feet booked for September 🪂 I am not sure why I have agreed to it 🤦🏼‍♀️ I loved the zipwire at Dalby forest but think jumping out of a plane is a little different 🤣 But I know that once my feet have touched the ground I will have loved every minute of it and if we can raise some money along the way for a fantastic charity then all the better!

Alzheimer’s is touching / has touched everyone at some point and will continue to do so as this horrible degenerative disease continues.

My Grandad Fred had Alzheimer’s and died in 2006. My father-in-law Ted had Alzheimer’s and died in 2020. A few months ago Adams mother-in-law Ann was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Adam and his family are seeing its devastating effects upon her. Added to this that quite a few of our lovely customers (Ann included) at the cafe have had or are suffering from it makes you realise that Alzheimer’s is everywhere and affecting everyone.

I have always wanted to do a skydive but never had the courage to do it. Now with someone else to do it with and such a good reason to do it for I really do not have any excuse anymore! I am not going to lie I will be as nervous as anything and have told Adam he has to jump first so I can follow him but if we can raise some money for such a fantastic charity to continue their work and hopefully one day find a cure then it will make all the nerves worth it.

Thank you for reading and anything you can donate will help to make a difference 💜 xxx
