Joey’s Steps in the right direction.

If you know Joey, you know he’s cheeky, brave, and wonderfully resilient. He has a smile that disarms, a sense of humour that sneaks up on you, and a strength that continues to amaze everyone around him.

Joey has already faced something no child ever should. As we approach his next scan—a moment that could tell us he is five years cancer free—we are living in that familiar space of hope, nerves, gratitude, and quiet bravery. Joey, as always, wants to do something. He wants to give back.

So Joey is taking on a challenge in his own way.

From now until his scan date, we will be counting the number of steps Joey takes. This isn’t about distance, speed, or pushing limits. Joey’s health and wellbeing come first. This challenge is designed carefully so he can take part without causing injury or fatigue—allowing him to contribute safely, proudly, and on his terms.

Every step Joey takes tells a story. A story of survival. Of determination. Of a little boy who keeps moving forward despite everything he has faced. And through these steps, Joey is raising funds for a charity that means the world to us—one that supports research into congenital glioblastoma and provides care, compassion, and understanding to families walking this incredibly difficult path.

This cause is personal because it is Joey’s story. Because research matters. Because support matters. And because families facing similar diagnoses deserve hope, answers, and kindness during their darkest moments.

As we wait for what we are desperately hoping will be incredible news, Joey is turning this chapter into something positive. Something meaningful. Something bigger than us.
