Sam's 2-mile swim fundraiser for Level Water

Sam Shead is raising money for Level Water

At Level Water, we use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities. Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water.

Story

I'm planning to swim 2 miles in the Serpentine in London's Hyde Park this September to raise money for Level Water.

What is Level Water I hear you ask? It's a charity that helps to fund 1:1 swimming lessons for physically disabled children aged 6 to 11, who cannot already swim.

I was initially planning to do a 1 mile event at the Henley Swim Festival but this has sadly been cancelled so I'm now linking the fundraising to Swim Serpentine.

The first splash. The holding your breath. The echoes of laughter. The wet hair. The lifted spirits. The joy of gliding through water. The smile that lasts all day.

Swimming is like nothing else. The skills you develop, the confidence you build and the joys you feel are all universal. Yet access to swimming in the UK is not.

At Level Water, we use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities.

Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water.
