Tylorstown Welfare Hall is the last remaining Miners Welfare Hall in the Rhondda Fach and the only community facility available for local people. We provide events and activities for people of all ages.

Story

I'm raising money to buy musical instruments, arts equipment, food and other essentials that can be accessed freely by local families and young people in and around Tylorstown, in the South Wales Valleys.

Levels of child poverty are at horrific highs across the UK, and in the Rhondda Valleys in South Wales there are thousands of young people whose families are struggling to survive.

The Hall is a lifeline for many local people, offering warmth, safety, and company for all generations, as well as being home to loads of arts and cultural activities. It is in a part of Wales where opportunities, local spaces, transport, and quality housing are scarce, and well-paid work hard to find.

I'm running 3 10k races in aid of this campaign - Cardiff Bay 10k (19 May); Porthcawl 10k (7 July); Cardiff 10k (1 September) - and am also working with a range of local, Welsh, and UK-wide creatives and academics to bring more attention, support, and creativity to the area.
