As many of you already know I work as a physio for Macmillan community palliative team. In this role I have seen hundreds of cancer patients who have received support, treatment and guidance, often for many years, from The Christie cancer hospital. When they reach my team they have sadly often exhausted their treatment options, but many of them have had precious extra time to spend with loved ones and achieve their personal goals. I also have a cycling buddy who had life saving treatment at The Christie for testicular cancer and is now back on the bike as strong as ever.

In 2016 I lost my nephew Liam from an aggressive form of childhood brain cancer, and this opened my eyes to the way cancer affects every aspect of life for those involved.

I hope that this support will go a small way towards future treatments and cures, and support the 50% of people who will develop cancer at some point in their lives.
