Sam's 100-mile Snowdonia race for Kinder Mountain Rescue Team

Ultra Trail Snowdonia 100M · 10 May 2024
On 10th May, I will be attempting to complete the UTS-100M ultra marathon. As part of this massive challenge, I'm hoping to raise some money for the Kinder Mountain Rescue Team, and to increase awareness of the important role of local mountain rescue teams.
KMRT are based in Hayfield, and cover the hills of the Peak District where I spend a lot of my time running. They are a volunteer-run organisation. Sometimes, when out in the hills things can go wrong, whether by misjudgement, accident or unexpected conditions; KMRT are trained and ready to respond to deal with difficult and life-threatening situations.
The UItra Trail Snowdonia 100M is a brutal 100-mile race that ascends over 34,000ft across some very difficult terrain; it is described 'Beautiful beyond belief. Savage beyond reason'. This will be my third 100-mile race. The previous two were immensely challenging, but this one raises the bar significantly, and I expect it to be by far the hardest challenge I've ever attempted.
If you feel inclined to support my effort in taking on the UTS-100M, please make a donation. Even better, if you spend time in these hills, maybe consider signing up for a small monthly donation to KMRT instead, or to your local mountain rescue team.
I have a blog where I ramble with unnecessary verbosity about my running antics. I started talking about my journey to the UTS back in January
