Sam Warwick is raising money for OPA Cancer Charity
In memory of Tom Mitchell

Sheffield Mutual Sheffield Half Marathon 2026 · 29 March 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Across four decades, OPA Cancer Charity has fought against oesophageal and gastric cancers, raising awareness about the dangers of persistent heartburn, Barrett’s oesophagus and acid reflux (GORD). We support patients, caregivers and their families.

Story

On Sunday 29th March, I will be running the Sheffield Half Marathon to help raise awareness and towards finding a cure for Oesphagus Cancer, which took a close friend of mine at the age of 26 after a short battle which he fought with bravery and positivity throughout. As a person,

Tom always looked out for those around him, offering his support not only to his family and friends but also to the public. Therefore I want to recognise the support and friendship he provided to me by running this half marathon.

In order to help towards this cause, any donations no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated. All donations will be going directly to OPA (Oesophageal and Gastric Support) Cancer Charity. For more than three decades, the OPA has been at the forefront of the battle against oesophageal and gastric cancers. Their primary mission is to provide assistance to patients, families, and caregivers while promoting awareness about these types of cancers and their prevention. Whether you are in the early stages or further along in your journey, the OPA is dedicated to offering support and guidance.

Our Tom will not be forgotten by all those who had the privilege of meeting and getting to know him. Sadly succumbed to Cancer far too soon.

Thank you
