Sam's fundraiser for Stroke Association

Sam Abear is raising money for Stroke Association

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

In 2024, I will be running the London Marathon for the Stroke Association. This cause is close to my heart because of my father's experience with a life changing stroke. He was a fit and healthy man however in November 2020, he suffered a stroke that left him struggling with his speech and stamina amongst many other challenges. The biggest hurdle for my father has been regaining his confidence to perform day-to-day tasks. It was difficult not being able to see him due to Covid restrictions, however the nurses at Royal Surrey hospital were kind enough to read him emails I sent.

The Stroke Association has been instrumental in helping my father and others like him recover from stroke. Their specialist support, research, and campaigning have made a huge difference in rebuilding lives. I want to do my part by raising awareness and supporting this charity so that more resources can be made available for those who need it most.

I am aiming to raise £2,000 for this cause. Every donation counts towards making a difference in someone's life.
