Samantha's fundraiser for Breast Cancer Now

Afternoon Tea 2024 · 1 August 2024 to 31 August 2024 ·
Breast Cancer Now urgently need your help to fund world-class research and life-changing support. By supporting Afternoon Tea, you'll be raising the money they need to provide support for today and hope for the future.
I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in May 2024 and had a mastectomy the same month. This fundraising is for all the women out there who have gone through, will be going through and are still going through treatment.
In May’s tender light, a day etched in memory,
I faced the storm with a heart steadfast and free.
The surgeon’s hands, skilled and kind,
Mended me, body and mind.
From that moment, a journey began,
With courage my armour , I took a stand.
Work piled high, commitments steep,
Yet I forged ahead, no time for sleep.
To the Lake District, my spirit flew,
Many days of walking, skies clear and blue.
Two Duke of Edinburgh assessments met with pride,
In Snowdonia’s arms, a week’s stride.
I climbed, I scrambled, I reached new heights,
Mountains bowing to my will, days and nights.
From surgery’s scar to summits kissed,
I achieved the unthinkable, none of it missed.
When the words “you have cancer” first reached my ear,
A shadow cast, a world of fear.
Yet through the trials, my strength did grow,
A new breast a reminder, but not my woe.
For cancer came and left its mark,
But it did not extinguish my spark.
Instead, it forged a spirit strong,
A heart resilient, where I belong.
Yet behind me, a team so grand,
Supporting my journey, lending a hand.
They kept the business, the day-to-day,
So I could heal, find my way.
Wonderful souls, my steadfast crew,
With every step, their strength I knew.
Weekly walks and tasks they’d take,
Ensuring dreams would not forsake.
I am not defined by what I faced,
But by the mountains I’ve embraced.
In every step, every climb,
I found my power, my rhythm, my rhyme.
So let the world see what I’ve become,
A warrior, a dreamer, second to none.
And to my team, my heartfelt cheers,
Together we’ve conquered these brave new years.
