I am raising funds for Envision. This charity aims to give young people from less advantaged backgrounds the opportunity to learn essential skills and gain in confidence for the work place and for life. They benefit from support from trained mentors and local business partners through a programme delivered in schools and colleges in the uk. The young people are supported to design develop and deliver an in school youth social action project that will make a positive change to their community.

Young people from less-advantaged backgrounds too often miss out on opportunities in and outside school to build the confidence and essential skills they need to succeed in later life. This means young people from less-advantaged backgrounds are underrepresented in the world of work. This is unacceptable. We believe where you grew up mustn’t determine where you’re going.

I am keen for all young people to have the best chance to succeed in their ambitions and for this reason I’ll be riding with Jolyon and about 45 other cyclists for 220 miles, through Eastern Yorkshire, through Lincolnshire and ending in Cambridge. The ride is from Friday 18 Sept - Sunday 20 Sept. I haven’t done a ride like this for 9 years and I am apprehensive, but with your support, once again, thank you very much, I hope to get through and achieve this goal.
