Kids' Village is building the UK's first respite holiday village just for children with critical illnesses and their families. A place where they can be themselves again and spend time with those closest to them for a well deserved respite break away from hospitals and the trauma of having a critical illness.

Story

Help me to build Kids Village!

I'm the founder of Kids Village and we're building the UK's first holiday village just for really sick children and their families, here in the heart of the country.

When I was 9, I was diagnosed with cancer. What followed was a pretty terrible time where my future was very uncertain. My parents wanted to inspire me with fun things we would do outside of hospitals and treatment; I wanted to get my ears pierced, I wanted to swim with dolphins and I wanted to go to America. Whilst on ward 15 in Birmingham Children's Hospital, we were told about an amazing place in America that was for kids just like me.

After over a year of vicious treatment I was very lucky to be able to go to this magical place in America that was like something out of a child's imagination. I got to focus on fun and I was able to feel safe and comfortable because I was surrounded by other children like me.

Once I returned from this trip, I vowed to create something similar in the UK...

After lots of hard work to gain planning permission, we are now embarking on a huge capital appeal to raise the money needed to build Kids Village. Every penny raised goes towards that.
