Story
Last September, Megan and I took on the London Wellness Walk and, thanks to everyone’s incredible generosity, raised £3,700 for Diabetes UK. The support we received meant more than I can put into words, and it showed Megan just how many people are behind her.
Now, in April 2026, I’m stepping things up and running the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
Megan was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on Christmas Day 2024 after being rushed to hospital in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), caused by a lack of insulin leading to dangerously high blood glucose levels. It was a frightening and overwhelming time that changed our lives overnight.
Today, Megan is thriving.
Over a year on, she manages her diabetes with an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor (CGM), dealing daily with the mental load, alarms, site changes, and constant decision-making that comes with this condition all with a strength and maturity far beyond her years. She’s resilient, positive, and determined not to let diabetes define her.
This run is for Megan, and for every child and family navigating life with Type 1 Diabetes.
Every donation will continue to support the vital work of Diabetes UK, helping to fund research, improve care, and ensure families like ours don’t face this journey alone.
Running 13.1 miles will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what Megan and so many others manage every single day.
💙 Thank you so much for your continued support, generosity, and encouragement. It truly means everything.
