Cardiac Risk in the Young Verified by JustGiving
RCN 1050845 (England & Wales), SC052581 (Scotland)
Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

In January 2022 my younger brother Alfie suffered a heart attack after playing football and was taken from us far too early at the age of just 35! He was healthy, fit, and had his whole life ahead of him!

Living life in Dubai with his wife Becky, Alfie was a regular on the golf course, and although had hung up his boots from his semi pro days, was still playing football regularly at a very good standard with the Dubai Dragons.

The shock and trauma has truly shook our family and we are still trying to work out how to cope with his absence from our lives. In the days, weeks and months after we lost Alfie, and whilst still trying to make sense of what had happened, we felt very alone, although once we found CRY, tragically we found out we were not alone… sadly, far from it.

CRY have provided my family with so much help and support through this extremely difficult time. So along with my mum Christine, my sister Bobbie and her children and many other family and friends, we will be walking in memory of our beloved Alfie! xxx

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
