Story

This year, I’ll be taking part in the Mud Pack Challenge in support of The Hospice of St Francis, a place that means so much to our family. As most of you know this is not something I would do. The next 6 weeks I will be training for this and putting my all in. I’m doing this on my birthday to honour two incredibly emotional milestones: my sister Hayley’s 40th birthday 10th anniversary of her passing, as well as the second anniversary of our Dad’s passing.

The Hospice of St Francis cared for us during the most heartbreaking moments of our lives. We spent Hayley’s final days in the hospice, surrounded by love, warmth, and compassion that words can't truly describe. For Dad, the hospice team supported us at home, bringing consistency, expert care, and kindness into a familiar setting when we needed it most.

I’m running to celebrate their memories, and to help raise as much as possible so other families can receive the same incredible support. Please consider donating — your kindness will help others facing the most difficult times find comfort, care, and dignity

The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £6m we need each year to fund our free care. Your support is ever more important, as NHS funding covers less than 20% of our running costs.
