Big Green Hike · 6 April 2024 to 7 April 2024 ·

The Yorkshire Rewilding Network aims to bring together anyone in the region who has an interest in rewilding — to inspire one-another, share knowledge and experience, and work towards a brighter, more sustainable future for all inhabitants… be they creatures great or small.

Story

From calling curlews to boxing hares, graceful barn owls to adorable hedgehogs our wildlife is crying out for space and safety. Rewilding is the answer and with your support we'll make it happen!

As Chair of Yorkshire Rewilding Network, I'm proud to say that all across Yorkshire people are rewilding and giving more space for nature to flourish. One of those places is my own home where we have been rewilding our field since 2018.

I've set myself the challenge of visiting all the rewilding sites on our map that are walkable from my own field and on the way find as many hidden wild spaces as possible and also persuade those I meet along the way to appreciate the wildness they may find on their own rambles!

This mission should have me covering almost 35 miles (if I don't get lost) and I hope to have lots of conversations on the way! I am visiting a range of projects from a town garden to a community rewilding project, single fields to working farms!

Our map was created to connect rewilders to each other and I hope that my walk will inspire others to join us and connect with the rewilders near them.

Please help raise funds to carry on our vital work to support the return of nature back to Yorkshire.
