Story
If you know me, you will know that I love to run and love a challenge so for me, running a marathon is something that I am doing for myself, to prove I can and obviously to try and beat the last time!
The decision to run for GFS is not because I need the motivation of doing this for charity but because I feel so strongly about what they do and the importance of addressing the difficulties that girls face growing up. It is amazing that today, the differential between boys and girls / men and women still exists, whether that is due to stereotypes, outdated views etc. Many people do not realise that this is an issue and that is because it is not talked about enough.
Personally, I wish I had known about this from a young age, just to have an understanding of why I felt the way I did in situations through school, my career and even in family life. Fortunately, I have been lucky enough to be supported and encouraged throughout my life, by family, friends and many people in my career, a lot of these have been men so kudos to them!!
So on the 19th April I will be running Manchester Marathon just because… “she believed she could so she did!”
Any spare pennies donated towards GFS and the awesome work they do would be appreciated, let’s make more girls believe in themselves and realise they can achieve anything!!
