Samuel Boyce is raising money for Gap - A Thanet Community Project

10 bay challenge (15 mile) run · 6 June 2026

The Gap Project is a community charity in Broadstairs supporting people in the Thanet area of high need. Based at Queens Road Baptist Church, we provide safe, welcoming spaces where children, families and adults can connect, improve wellbeing, access support and feel a true sense of belonging.

Story

I am a self proclaimed bad runner, but I enjoy pushing my limits for good causes, this will be my biggest challenge yet running 15 miles on sand and elevated cliffs. From being part of QRBC church for many years now I have seen first hand how amazing the GAP Project is at helping and supporting people in our local community. This gives me the upmost confidence that every penny raised is worth it.

The GAP Project is an all-inclusive and welcoming church-based community project for groups, activities and individual support for people in poverty and deprivation. They are based within the Thanet area, which is placed within England's top 10% of most deprived authorities.

More than 1,000 people come through the doors each week and the project is supported by 150 volunteers who manage the Café and a large variety of groups and activities. The main aim of the project is to provide a safe place for people to access the support and resources they need to build their self esteem, make informed decisions and improve their quality of life.

It is a safety net for people to access in times of need - with access to advice, support, friendship and a hot meal in times of crisis. The project enables people to reach their potential, whether it be within education, relationships or employment.

The project's has two social enterprises, The Gap Community Café and the charity shop ‘Gap in the Market', both are big contributors to our funding.

GAP has provision for the elderly, work with the under 5's and families, work with young people and also those with mental health issues.

The GAP project is a safety net and stepping stone for those in the local community and their impact is immeasurable.
