This year I’m running the Conwy Half Marathon in memory of my brother, Sam.❤️

In January 2015, Sam passed away from an aggressive brain tumour which he had been diagnosed with in 2013. He was only 18 years old with a big, beautiful life ahead of him. He made an impact on everyone’s lives as he was such a character and always had a twinkle in his eye! I think he packed more into 18 years than most of us do in a lifetime..

Sam and I were inseparable whilst we were growing up, I followed him everywhere and copied everything that he did! When we became teenagers we fought like cat and dog; but we always loved each other fiercely. There is nothing like losing a sibling, my big brother- my protector. ❤️

Young Lives vs Cancer (formerly known as CLIC Sargent) were an incredible support to us all throughout Sam’s illness, particularly nurse Rhian who we still talk about with such fond memories to this day! Rhian always advocated for Sam and provided him with person-centred, dignified care.

There is not a day that goes by where I don’t think of Sam, I’m always looking for signs and hoping that I make him proud. I am definitely not a natural runner, but I am going to give it my all for him.
