Story

Thank you for visiting the Sam Hawarden memorial fundraising page which has been created by his close family to help us remember him and create a lasting legacy. We would love to be able to make a meaningful contribution in Sam’s name to The Brain Tumour Charity.

Losing Sam at the tender age of 32 is the most painful thing we have ever experienced. We have seen first-hand the terrible impact that brain tumours can inflict and the shockwave of devastation as family and friends come to terms with the news. In creating this fund, we simply wish to provide hope and support to others who find themselves in the same unfortunate position.

Sam developed the most aggressive form of brain cancer which is completely incurable and has a bleak prognosis of just 14 months. Tragically, when Sam passed away on 30th May 2023, this was just 4 days from his admittance to hospital and initial diagnosis.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK. Despite this, it remains underfunded as just 2% of the UK’s overall spend on cancer research is designated to brain tumours. As a result, progress is slow and the very poor prognosis has barely improved since the 1970’s.

Sam lived an incredible life filled with thoughtfulness and generosity. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend to so many. Please support us in continuing Sam’s lasting memory and fighting this terrible disease with a donation to this important cause.

This funding page will be used as a single point to collect all donations from any fundraising activities or events in Sam’s name. Details of any individual events will be posted as updates on this page.

We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who has made a donation or taken the time to read Sam’s story.
