Thames River Kayak Journey · 23 July 2025

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Following our successful 70 mile kayak journey from Bedford to the sea a few years ago we have decided to double the distance for our next midlife crisis - let's Kayak the Thames!

Starting on the 23rd July, we will be attempting to Kayak the length of the River Thames. We will begin at Letchlade in Gloucestershire and travel for eight days to Central London finishing at the Thames Barrier - only 155 miles this time around!!

As we have doubled the distance, we would also like to double the amount of money we raise this time. Sam is raising money for the Stroke Association and I am raising money for the Alzheimers Society. Both are horrendous conditions that directly affects our families both past and present.

So, please, if you can spare any cash to support Sam and I to raise some money, anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated.

From 2 old men in a boat, thank you for your support.

Jeff and Sam.

PS - Kathyrn (Sam's wife) is being a legend and acting as our support vehicle throughout the trip. Many thanks for her anticipated patience and dedication to the cause.
