Story
I'm running the Great North Run for Tommy’s – and for my Dad 💙
This year, I'm taking on the Great North Run to raise money for Tommy’s, a charity that funds research into miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth. Its a cause close to my heart and I’ve seen firsthand with family and friends how devastating that loss can be. Tommy’s is working to ensure more babies make it into the world safely, and I’m proud to be supporting them.
This run is also very much for my Dad. We lost him unexpectedly just a few months ago. He was my hero — someone I looked up to every single day. He actually ran the Great North Run himself (his one and only half marathon!). He loved to remind us of it… regularly! I know he will be watching over with a smile on his face as i follow in his footsteps.
During the time of losing our dad, finding out he was a registered organ donor was something that brought us a small sense of peace and immense pride. His selfless decision gave two people a second chance at life. Even in his final moments, he was still helping others—something that truly reflects the kind of person he was. That’s why, alongside supporting Tommy’s, I’m also raising awareness for Live Life Give Life, a charity that champions the power and importance of organ donation.
My fundraising target is £300, which will go to Tommy’s. Anything raised above that will be split equally between Tommy’s and Live Life Give Life.
If you’re able to donate anything at all, I would be so grateful. Thank you for reading, supporting, and sharing.
