Story
I am over the moon to have been given the opportunity to take part in the London Marathon on 26 April 2026. It will be my 4th time, the last being in 2012. I have decided to raise money to help support the Forest of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre.
When it became clear that our daughter Sophie had additional needs my wife and I looked for a local nursery school setting that would suit her needs. Once we visited the Opportunity Centre, we felt this would be the perfect setting. We were not wrong! Sophie has been attending the centre since January 2024.
Fast forward to June 2025, Sophie is nearing the end of her time at the Opportunity Centre. The SENCO and all the staff have done an amazing job with our daughter as she has progressed over the past 18 months. She was non-verbal when she started and had some delays in other areas but working together with the centre Sophie has really improved. Sophie has loved her time at the Opportunity Centre, she will be starting school soon and we feel she’s ready.
The Children's Opportunity Centre has been running since 1982 offering care and support for young children with additional needs. They rely on donations and fundraising to be able to continue their excellent work:
