Story
Every child deserves the best possible start in life, but every minute of every day some children are denied the love, security and opportunities they need to thrive. For so many, the odds are simply stacked against them.
Coram change children’s lives for the better, child by child. They operate as a group of nine specialists children’s charities working together to ensure that children have a loving home, a voice that's heard, skills for the future, and a chance to shine!
The Smith family (owners of the Sammons Recruitment Group) have been long-term supporters of Coram, and chose to establish Sheila's Fund at Coram, as a consequence of their immediate family involvement in the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy on 14th June 2017, where Martyn’s mother, Harriet’s Grandmother, Shelia, was one of the 72 victims who lost their lives. Sheila was a mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was also a uniquely resilient and independent woman, and her loss in the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy left a huge gap in the lives of those who knew her.
With the support of the Smith family, and in Sheila's memory, Coram provided immediate support through schools in the Grenfell area to enable children, young people and their teachers to address difficult issues including grief, loss, coping skills, fear and anxiety.
Children’s chances in life depend on where they live and who they live with. Sammons are now supporting Coram by taking on a Tough Mudder and putting some of the team through their paces! The money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of children who need Coram's support most.
