Story

This year, I received a diagnosis that changed the way I see my past and my future: multiple sclerosis (MS). Rather than allowing it to define my limits, I am choosing to turn that diagnosis into purpose.

After growing up in the UK and later building my life in Australia, receiving my diagnosis changed how I viewed my journey and the road ahead.

Running has become an important part of my life. It represents challenge, resilience and the belief that we can continue moving forward, even when life takes an unexpected turn. The London Marathon will be more than 42.2 kilometres; it will be a celebration of what is still possible.

Resilience is not about ignoring challenges or pretending things are easy. It is about adapting, finding meaning, and continuing to move forward. I want to share this journey honestly and show that while MS may change the route, it does not have to change the destination.

I am proud to be running for the MS International Federation because MS is a global disease, and access to care is far from equal.

I feel incredibly fortunate to live in Australia, where I have access to specialist care and treatment options that give me hope for the future. I know this is not the reality for everyone living with MS. Around the world, many people face barriers to diagnosis, specialist support, rehabilitation and treatments simply because of where they reside.

I strongly believe that no one should have fewer opportunities because of where they live. MS does not recognise borders, and neither should hope.

MSIF works internationally to improve the lives of people affected by MS, support global collaboration, and drive progress towards better diagnosis, treatment and care for everyone living with this disease.Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing my training journey, the highs, the challenges and everything in between, as I prepare to take on the London Marathon.

Every kilometre will be run with gratitude, determination and the hope that together we can help create a world where everyone living with MS has access to the support and opportunities they deserve.

Thank you for supporting me and supporting the global MS community.
